Harley's Barkery was first thought of a few months after we received confirmation that our dog, Harley, tested positive for lymphoma. We were devastated. Harley was the first dog we ever adopted and he was only seven years old.
We had plans to open up a bulk candy store in the Syracuse area but after a lot of talking, we decided to set those plans aside and keep Harley's memory going by opening a dog treat business and by combining a name of another "Barkery" and our dog's name, it was born.
So, our first real test was at the Taste of Syracuse 2014 where we donated our Peanut Butters treats to the HumaneCNY's booth and our first show was for the HumaneCNY's Woofstock 2014 which was a great success. We couldn't believe the feedback we received. We took all that information, changed some ingredients, and came out to our next event that much better.2015 brought continued growth for us. While we were still going through some growing pains, our name started to be known throughout the Central New York area. Flavors were tried and discontinued as well as improving our branding and treat appearance. We started branching out into other areas in late 2015. 2016 brought our busiest year to date. Our event season stretched from Central Square to Watkins Glen, and Rochester to Utica. 2017 is promising to be an even better year and a year of big change. This year marks our first year of being certified in New York State. We slimmed down our products and have big plans to grow and bring our product offerings into stores so you don't have to find us at an event if you don't want to. Look for Harley and Sophie on store shelves!
We want to thank everyone for helping us keep Harley's memory alive!
